

The Rinkan Tea Gathering
From the 15th century 'Sairei soshi'. In the Muromachi Period it was common to share a bath before a tea gathering. The event was intended to be relaxing and a prelude to discriminating savouring of teas. Both bath and tea areas wouldbe lavishly appointed with fine wares and utensils, and good food would be served.
